How to get AVAX to MetaMask

Through this you will learn how to obtain AVAX, set up an AVAX webwallet, add AVAX mainnet to MetaMask, and send AVAX to your MetaMask address.

I will break this up into 3 parts (I) setting up an AVAX webwallet (II) Adding the Avalanche network to MetaMask (III) Sending AVAX from Exchange to web wallet to MetaMask. You cannot send directly from an exchange to MetaMask.

AVAX Web Wallet Setup

1. Obtain AVAX

2. Create an AVAX webwallet (note your seed phrase)

Adding Avalanche network to MetaMask

1. Open MetaMask, select the network dropdown, press custom RPC

2. Input the Avalanche Mainnet Settings

   • Network Name: Avalanche Mainnet C-Chain

   • New RPC URL: https://api.avax.network/ext/bc/C/rpc

   • ChainID: 0xa86a

   • Symbol: AVAX

   • Explorer: https://cchain.explorer.avax.network/

Exchange to MetaMask Transfer

1. Send AVAX from exchange to Avalanche X chain address (webwallet you set up in step 1)

2. Go to Cross Chain Transfer tab and send from X chain to C chain

3. Go to send tab, select C contract. Under “to address” copy and paste your MetaMask address (ensure you have Avalanche Mainnet C-Chain selected)

4. Submit

Voila, through this you will see the speed and low cost at which AVAX transactions execute.
